Frequently asked questions section

1. What is Certass and what does it cover?

Certass is a UKAS approved certification scheme that checks individual contractors and companies competence against set standards. Certass is a government approved Competent Person Scheme (CPS) in England and Wales and our approved license number is 08005999390. You can check the validity of our government approval by visiting the Communities and Local Government’s website. Certass inspects a percentage of each registered Certass contractors work to ensure that current standards of building regulations are complied with. Certass will issue the Building Regulation Compliance Certificate directly to the homeowner within 7 working days of receiving notification of the completed works from your Certass contractor. All replacement window and door installations must be covered by a Building Regulation Compliance Certificate issued either from a member of an authorised Competent Person Scheme or directly from the building control department of your local authority.

2. What's the cost of your windows?

Price depends on the specification and size of your chosen window style. To receive an accurate quotation, please
call us on 08005999390 or email a request and we will call you to arrange an appointment.

Some 60% of homeowners said that their home was warmer since getting double glazing, which is one of the biggest differences people cited that it had made. If you were to replace all of the single-glazed windows in a three-bedroom, semi-detached house, the Energy Saving Trust says that you'd save between £75 and £100 per year with B-rated glass and £85-£110 per year with A-rated glass.

4. Will I have to move out or leave the property when my windows are installed?

No, you won't have to move out of your home while your new windows are being installed. Our installation teams will be able to complete the task quickly and efficiently. They normally complete one room before moving onto the next and will talk to you first to explain exactly what is involved.

5. How long will it take to complete my installation?

Exact time depends on the number and style of windows. But as a general rule, a whole house (5-10 windows) should be fitted in 1-2 days. We will carry out a full survey before the new windows arrive and will therefore know the extent of work required. Carrying out the survey also means we will have manufactured all the replacement windows to the exact size needed to replace the old frames – again minimising time on site.

6. How can I tell if a window is energy rated?

Look out for the British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC) Window Energy Label. This is similar to the one you may have seen on your fridge or washing machine. A-rated windows are the most efficient and are the best way of improving the energy efficiency of your home. All our windows are A+rated and will reduce your energy bills.

7. What is the guarantee?

We offer a full comprehensive 10 year insurance backed guarantee on the complete product and installation.

8. What will happen to my old windows?

We will remove the old windows from your home you won't have to. If they’re made from UPVC then they can be sent to a recycling facility where they are used to make new energy efficient products.

9. Will I need to remove curtains or blinds?

Yes, you will need to remove these to allow the installer clear access to the windows, this is the customers responsibility, if these are not removed we cannot be held responsible if there is any damage caused during the installation.

10. How should I clean my new windows?

Normally, a soft cloth and warm soapy water is all that is required to remove dirt and grime. If you want a professional quality finish, specialist UPVC cream cleaner is available to buy from various stockists nationwide. Abrasive cloths and solvents should never be used to clean UPVC, as they will damage the surface finish of the profile.
